Session:
Strategic Meetings Management (SMM) Boot Camp: Essentials of SMM for Planners and Suppliers

Program Overview:
The idea of centralizing and controlling meeting and event spend has been around for many years, and is now commonly referred to as Strategic Meetings Management or “SMM”. SMM started out simply enough with meeting managers trying to reduce meeting expenses and mitigate the risk of poorly negotiated contracts. Through its evolution, many industry accepted procedures have developed in order to design and deploy a successful SMM Program. SMM has also affected the buying process from transactional to strategic. This session will provide insights into some of the key components of SMM from the client perspective and will examine changes in the buying process from the supplier perspective. Topics such as stakeholder management, meeting registration, strategic sourcing, and data analysis will be discussed. Current trends in SMM will be examined. Attend this program if you want to learn more about Strategic Meetings Management from both the planner and supplier perspective.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the key objectives and outcomes of a Strategic Meetings Management Program from the planner point of view
  • Acknowledge changes in the buyer/seller relations as a result of SMM
  • Recognize current trends in SMM
